Briefly, answer the following:
1. When should one rise up against his/her government, even if it means going to prison or worse?
2. How far would you, personally, have to be pushed before you would turn against your government? What policy changes would drive you to risk your freedom and/or life?
3. Choose a revolutionary leader--Thomas Jefferson, MLK, Ghandi, Bob Dylan, Nelson Mandela, Muhammed Ali, etc.--as your model. This person MUST have risked his/her freedom and/or life for the cause. Most revolutionary leaders have spent time in prison, have been beaten by police, or have been assassinated for their ideas.

1. A person should rise up against his/her own country when one is imposed upon certain values that they don't believe in. Another time would be when one is pressured or monitored by the government. Every person has rights that enable him/her to live their life the way they want to. No one should conform to a way of life to satisfy another being or in this matter, the government.
2. I would rise up against my own country when my rights are taken away. I want the freedom to choose for myself, to think what i want to think, and so on. If my rights were taken away i would revolt because i want to be who i want to be, not what the government wants everyone to be.

1. One should rise up against their government when the government can not support or live by what they originally said they would.

1. One should rise up against his or her government only if that government is stripping them of personally liberties. For example, if the government is involved with every aspect of your life like in "1984" then you should revolt. You should be able to live your life without constantly being watched and without constantly being suspected of bad acts. You should be able to live freely and express yourself freely like you are able to in America. If you aren't able to be yourself in your own country then you should revolt.
2. I would have to be stripped of my personal freedoms and everything that makes me myself for me to revolt against my own government. If citizens weren't allowed to be themselves, then I would revolt, or if the government was randomly killing citizens then I would take action. When governments try to make themselves seem as more than human things then they are getting a little out of hand. They are people just like us and what gives them the right to strip me and you and our fellow citizens of everything that makes us, us.
