Gun Control Within Colleges

After the Virgina Tech Massacre new means of security need to be taken to prevent students from carry around weapons. Weither it be survaillence cameras, tighter security, more security guards. Whatever measure needs to be taken to enduce safety in a learning environment.

Tabor should get rid of Saturday classes.
Saturday classes are a big hassle for students. After a week of just school, we need time just to relax and have fun. But also, it is difficult for the day stucents and their parnets too, because they need to wake up earlier to drive to Tabor.

Ski mountains should make separate areas for skiers and snow-boarders. The snow-boarders slide down the trails, scraping off the snow making snow conditions icy. It makes skiing more difficult, and when you just want to ski down the mountain lazily, you can't because you have to spend your time watching out for the slippery spots. By making these separate areas, skiing will be more pleasant.

The drinking age should be 18. If a person can vote, be a legal guardian, and join the armed services, then why should they not be allowed to drink, even in a controlled setting such as a restaurant. Studies have shown that there is a higher percentage of heavy drinkers below the age of 21 than over that age because of binge drinking, or drinking quickly so that they can finish quick and not be caught with the alcohol.

The dress code at Tabor Academy is extremely unfair for the tall young women in the community. Just because our legs are longer we need to search extra hard just to find skirts and dresses that barely go to our knees. It is completely ridicules that the shorter young women in our community have it easier just because there legs are not al long and the teachers can't see there knees.

The drinking age should be 18. Drinking age hardly restricts anything but buying alcohol. 70% of people under 21 drink. There would hardly be an increase in 'drunk driving accidents' and other alcohol related deaths. Most of this is caused by binge drinking. Binging really only happens with people under age. If it was lowered to 18 less people would die from binging.

Division 1 College Athletes should be paid.

In today's society, sports are one of the main sources of entertainment. Along with the professional leagues, college sports are of high interest. It isn't fair for young student athletes to attend universities and help make their institutions millions upon millions of dollars (ticket sales, apparel, television). Not only should all of the players recieve a full scholarship, but college athletes should also be paid a yearly salary.

The drinking age in the us should be 18. If the legal age for smoking is 18 then so should be drinking. This higher age that does not allow drinking is the higher percentage of underage drinkers there are and the more dangerous methods of drinking exist. Also if the age for being in the military is 18 then its just stupid that the drinking age is 21. Why should somebody be allowed at the age of 18 to go off and defend his country many a times by killing the enemy, but at that same age not be allowed to drink.

I think that marijuana should be legalized. For one, people already toke up all the time, even though it is illegal to possess, buy and sell. The only thing that making pot illegal is doing is driving up the prices. Since people do it anyway, why not make it easier on their wallets. Marijuana is one of the top selling drugs in the world, and so if people will buy, sell and smoke it anyway, why not take steps toward legalizing it. Yeah, decriminalization sounds great, but it's not like it's doing a whole lot for pot smokers.

The drinking age should stay at age 21. I believe that there should have never been a drinking age to begin with. It led to binge drinking in the US. A while back they tried to bring the drinking age down to 18, but it led to more issues with drinking and allowed high schoolers to have easier access to alcohol.

the diking age should definitely be lowered to about 18 years old because of several reasons.
first of all, if you can drive at 16! smoke at 18! join the army at 18 and vote as well then why not be able to drink ! ofcourse you have to be responsable about it .In some cultures, mine as well, the drinking age is lower and for the following reason. Having a couple of drink with your son when he is at a lower age will teach him the responsabilities he need to know about alcohol. also when he gets to be 21 he will not go as crazy on th drink because he know what alcohol cn do to you.

Obesity is exponentially increasing amongst young children today. Thanks to T.V. commercials and magazine ads, some children feel obliged to eat what is appealing to them on television.

Death penalty should be continued, because it is the most effecient way to settle rules in a society. The radical criminals such as serial killers or who attempt to rape, should be penalized by death penalty. Nowadays, some say that death penalty should be abolished and replaced by penal servitude for life because it is disrespectful to the human dignity; however, someone's human right can be protected by law only if he/she respect that of others.

Animals are a vital resource in scientific research
Without animal testing, almost every medical advance in the last century wouldn't have happened. There is no alternative to biomedical research, and the animals used are mostly mice and rats. Less than one half of a percent of animals tested are cats, dogs, and non-human primates. Also, the USDA as well as other governmental organizations have put forth rules that protect the animals. Many medical advances such as the discovery of insulin were developed with animal testing and lead to nobel prize winning work.

Tabor should abolish saturday classes. Saturday classes are very inconvenient for students and teachers who wish to go home on the weekends. After a five day week of school students deserve a break. weekends are a time for relaxation and a time for you to enjoy yourself. Also Saturday classes are not even a full school day so whats the point of learning two or three extra classes. Are those two or three extra classes really worth tiring you out for the next week. Tabor should abolish classes because its beneficial to no one.

The age to be able to carry a weapon while with your father out hunting on management land should be 14 years old. Right now at the age 15 I am allowed to carry a weapon with my dad but if I have a weapon he can not. Taking the second weapon away takes millions of people out of the sport. A young hunter will lose interest just following his father around all day. If you gave him a shot to carry the weapon than more and more young people would gain an interest in hunting and get off the streets wasting time doing something stupid. If there are less people hunting than that means less land is being put aside to be hunted on meaning less and less space for wild animals to live. The tax money that the hunting association is what saves the little bit of land the wild animals have. If you were to drop the age down it’s another year of taxes and another year of buying a hunting license. Sure not every 14 year old kid should be able to carry a gun he would have to take several classes and also several hard shooting test before he will be able to carry a gun for himself. This would also bring in more money to pay for the courses and also the test. This would also help the general pubic by creating more jobs for people.

The drinking age should be lowered to 18. Many high school students have parties and drink alcohol anyway. The down side for it to be 18 is that freshman and sophmores cana get it easier because they can have a friend thats a junior or senior that can get it for them.

Tabor should allow seniors to attend school. We already have a command on prep school academics, why not make it a prep school sports power house also, allow 10 pg's a year to come and beast on our sports teams. We could not only be at the top academically every year but now we could be at the top of the sports standings also.

The reasons for going into Iraq were flawd, but we are there now and we must carry out the mission and declar victory. The Bush admimistration jumped to conculsions to quickly regarding the WMD's that the UN inspectors never had time to even relaease a report prior to the invasion. But that is in the past now, it is almost 7 years laster and we are fully involved in Iraq. We must remain commited to victory for a number do different reasons. One being that with over 4,000 lives lost, leaving with out finishing the job would mean 4,000 lives lost for nothing. Secondly, form a economic standpoint, we as American tax payers have invested billions in the war, and can not afford to see a country that we payed for collapse. Thirdly leaving the war would allow for a terroist breeding ground in Iraq, that would quicklyu spread and have infulence over the whole middeleast. The United States must continue on its path to victory in Iraq, diregarding the reasons we initally went there, and focusing on the present situation.

Media and how it effects the youth

Today there are reality shows about this, and that. More sex, swears, alcohol and drugs are being shown to kids younger and younger these days. This just gets these idea's into kids heads when they should even be thinking about drinking until they are legal to. They shouldn't be thinking about drugs at a young age either. Sex should not be happening within the youth. The youth shouldn't be swearing. Yes, when you are in your teenage years most people know the "swear words" We need to clean up the media so the youth's future will be safe.

Drugs should be legal. First it is the responsibility of the individual to take care of his/her body. Second, the government spends way too much money to prevent drugs from being in the country (futile effort) and that money should be put to more usefull causes.

No homework over breaks, weekends, and summer

When the school gives us a break, we should be able to enjoy the time we have off and. If all the teachers give loads of work thinking we have a week or two to do it, each student five or six classes of work they have to do over break, taking the point of making it a break. The point of the weekend is to have a short break off schoolwork. If all the teachers give homework on an average weekend with saturday classes, some students will have sports games, giving them sunday morning off and nothing else because of study hall.

Dress Code should be Destroy
-We don't need it to look smart or respectable.
-It very difficult to learn if you are uncomfortable
-Takes time to put dress code on
-Encourage students to "Think inside the box" as uniform prevents studnes from being creative.
-Waste of money

People should stretch before AND after sports and exercising! There are many reasons why this should happen. First, it helps to prevent injuries and serves as a cool down for your muscles. Second, it makes your muscles less sore and less stiff(which is good!). Finally, stretching should be done before and after sports and exercising because it is healthy for your body and helps in keeping your body in shape for the days to come.
